Wireless Bridge Vibration Monitoring System
Large bridges are economic lifelines of a country. The huge investment in them and the important role they play in national economy make people pay more and more attention to the safety, durance and normal use functions of large-span bridges. Economic development in return promotes the development of transportation cause. Traffic and transport volume increases on a large margin. The rate of traffic flow and the load capacity of vehicles are getting heavier. In comparison, the load standards and headroom (above or under bridge) of some existing bridges on roads cannot meet new traffic need as the original design standards are low or the rundown of their structures affects their original design capacity and endangers their operation. In general, the construction cost of bridges is high and their service life is about 100 years. The coupling effect of environmental erosion, material fatigue, the long-term effect, fatigue effect and mutation effect of load, and other disastrous factors will unavoidably result in damage accumulation and resistance attenuation of structures and systems, thus weakening the resistance to natural disasters and even normal environmental actions and triggering disastrous sudden events under extreme conditions. All these have seriously affected the development of transportation and created great difficulty to the current highway bridge operation maintenance and management.
The wireless bridge vibration monitoring system designed by Goldenet is a bridge structure vibration monitoring system based on a wireless sensor network. This system transfers vibration information to the monitoring center via the wireless sensors installed on the bridge and undertakes analysis, monitoring and early warning, thus lengthening bridge life.
This system consists of vibration sensors, acquisition terminals, main control computer and processing software. By monitoring the displacement deformation of bridge structure and the dynamic characteristics and vibration level of the bridge, the system will trigger early warning signals in special weathers, or under traffic condition or in serious normality of its operating condition, and provides a basis and guidance for decision-makers on bridge maintenance, repair and management.
The monitoring system monitors the following aspects:
1. Structural response and vibration state of bridge structure under normal vehicle load and wind load.
2. Damage of bridge structure after a sudden event (such as: earthquake, unexpected gale, or other serious accidents).
3. Damage of bridge structure after excessive vehicle traffic or vehicle collision.
4. Working state of important non-structural members (such as: support and pier) and auxiliary facilities (such as: vibration controller of a cable stayed bridge) of the bridge.
